The 'el' or 'helio' refers to Helios the Sun-god, who was known as El in Judaic scripture. The name 'elagabal' is an Aramaic translation of the Greek 'heliogabal'. The Phoenix was linked to a meterorite, which is why it had firery plumage. Note the stone is embossed with the image of the Phoenix. The elagabal meterorite in a chariot - a gold coin of Emperor Elagabalus. Where it went to after Elagabalus was deposed, nobody knows.Īnd it is notable that the Bond meteorite takes no part in the plot.
